Jefferson Moneo was born in the middle of nowhere on the Canadian plains. He holds a BA in English from the University of Saskatchewan and an MFA in Film Production from Columbia University in New York City. While a student at Columbia, he was a two-time recipient of the Hollywood Foreign Press Award for Outstanding International Student and received a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for the webseries Here Come the Humans. As a filmmaker, his work has been screened at venues around the world including TIFF, Slamdance, the Moscow Bienalle, and the Cannes Film Festival. In 2014, his debut feature Big Muddy premiered at TIFF to critical acclaim. Jefferson currently resides in Toronto and recently completed his second feature film, Cosmic Dawn.
